ABOUT SUSAN

Relationships have been the through-line of Susan’s work for more than three decades.

Susan Regan is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, mediator, educator, and host of the #SoRelatable Podcast.

Across therapy rooms, mediation sessions, groups, workshops, teaching, and conversations, her work has centered on a recurring question:

What helps people understand themselves well enough to relate differently?

Susan is interested in what happens underneath the reaction.

Conflict is rarely only about the thing being argued about.

Withdrawal, defensiveness, anger, over-functioning, shutting down, or trying harder and harder to be understood often make more sense when we understand what those reactions are protecting.

Susan helps people notice those patterns, understand where they come from, and create more room for choice.

Awareness does not eliminate our reactions.
It gives us more choice about what happens next.

More than one way to help.

People do not always know what kind of support they need when they arrive. Susan helps clarify what is happening and which next step makes sense.

Her current services include eligible couples and family psychotherapy, therapeutic or non-clinical groups, distinct couples coaching when appropriate, discernment, mediation, specialized Individual and Couples Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy, workshops, education, and professional learning.

Through speaking, #SoRelatable, and community education through The Composure Lab, Susan also shares these insights beyond direct service sessions.

More than three decades in the room.

Susan’s perspective comes from decades spent working with individuals, couples, and families during emotionally charged moments — recurring conflict, relationship uncertainty, intimacy struggles, separation, co-parenting, family change, and rebuilding after loss.

Her clinical foundation informs her work, while psychotherapy remains distinct from mediation, education, and non-clinical services.

Families change. Relationships continue.

Susan has extensive experience with divorce, separation, mediation, co-parenting, and the work of rebuilding relationships through family transitions.

She helps people better understand their reactions, navigate difficult conversations, and make thoughtful decisions when the shape of family life is changing.

The work has expanded beyond the therapy room.

Susan began recognizing many of the same human patterns in families, friendships, workplaces, leadership, professional practice, and communities.

That insight expanded her work into relationship education, the #SoRelatable podcast, speaking, clinician education, and The Composure Lab — a community-education initiative focused on what happens when people become emotionally activated.

Susan's clinical work includes eligible couples and group psychotherapy and specialized Individual KAP, distinct from her mediation and educational work.

Making complex relationship dynamics easier to understand.

Susan teaches in a conversational, practical, psychologically informed, and reflective way. She is interested in the “why” beneath behavior, not simply a list of things people should say or do.

Through #SoRelatable, articles, videos, workshops, and community education, she offers ways to understand familiar patterns and consider different responses.

Helping clinicians understand themselves in the work.

Susan’s developing professional education explores relational clinical work, clinician reactions, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, experiential learning, professional growth, and practice development.

The focus is on becoming more intentional about what happens in the room and building professional work that reflects the clinician’s interests and values.

A life with room for movement and reflection.

Outside her professional work, Susan values movement, nature, and time to reflect. Her interests have included dance, yoga, Pilates, hiking, and paddleboarding.

These practices help make room for perspective and restoration in her own life.

Understanding what is happening is often the beginning of change.
