GROUPS & GUIDED SUPPORT

Continuing the Work

Some of the most meaningful changes happen through ongoing reflection and practice.

Knowing a pattern is one thing; noticing it while a difficult conversation is unfolding is another. Continuing the Work is intended as a place for conversation, reflection, and practice around how we relate to others. Current availability and participation details are discussed during inquiry.

Understanding is a beginning, not a finish line.

You may recognize a familiar reaction after it happens and understand exactly why you responded that way. Yet the next difficult conversation can bring that pattern back before you have time to think.

Awareness rarely changes a relationship habit all at once. It takes opportunities to notice more clearly, ask different questions, and consider how you want to respond.

Continuing the Work makes room for that ongoing reflection rather than treating personal change as something you finish once and for all.

The final audience, enrollment status, and participation structure still require Susan's confirmation; the page does not promise that a particular group is currently open.

What we explore together

  • Recognizing recurring relationship patterns
  • Noticing automatic emotional responses
  • Communication and expressing needs
  • Boundaries, awareness, and choice
  • Practicing different responses in relationships
  • Maintaining curiosity and growth over time

What the group experience is like

Sometimes it takes another person's question or perspective to recognize what we are doing in a familiar situation. A conversation can reveal a pattern that is difficult to see when thinking alone.

The intended group approach centers on reflection, practicing language for our experiences, and noticing how our ways of relating evolve. Its precise current format and audience will be confirmed through inquiry.

Susan’s role

Susan M. Regan, LMFT, brings decades of experience working with relationships and emotional patterns to guiding the group. Her professional training informs how she helps participants recognize what may lie beneath their reactions, put difficult experiences into words, and hold thoughtful conversations with others.

This is a non-clinical support, education, and guided-growth group. Participation is not psychotherapy and does not, by itself, establish a therapist-client relationship with Susan.

Some participants may separately work with Susan in psychotherapy. That clinical relationship is distinct from group participation, with its own eligibility, informed consent, confidentiality practices, and clinical records.

Participation and privacy

Non-clinical group participation uses distinct expectations for participation and confidentiality, which Susan will explain before any admission decision. These are not the same agreements or records used for a separate psychotherapy relationship.

Is this group a fit?

This group may be worth exploring if…

  • You find yourself recognizing familiar patterns after a difficult exchange.
  • You want more opportunities to reflect on how you relate to others.
  • You are curious about the gap between insight and everyday practice.
  • You want to keep developing awareness, communication, and choice.
  • You are willing to inquire about the current group purpose before assuming it fits.

Inquiry, intake & participation

Inquiry ≠ intake ≠ admission. The 15-minute inquiry call is a first conversation about the group and whether it may be appropriate. A separate intake or screening may be required depending on the group’s confirmed participation process. Susan considers fit, group composition, current availability, participant location, and applicable requirements before offering a place.

An inquiry does not guarantee admission and does not itself establish a therapist-client relationship.

Availability depends on the particular group, participant location, fit, and applicable requirements.

Begin with a conversation.

If continuing to reflect on your relationships interests you, Susan can clarify whether Continuing the Work is currently offered and whether it fits your goals.
